castingThe word Environment can mean many different things. Today we so often equate it with “green products” when, in fact, it can extend to so much more than that, within an organisation.

Furphy’s Foundry has a large number of environmental practices that go well beyond supplying recycled timbers, when required, on our seating. Click here to see products that have a high environmental content.

Let’s talk materials for a moment. Our casting plant uses 100% recycled aluminium 100% of the time in our cast range of street furniture.

In the steel fabrication part of the business, the off cuts of steel, are either, retained for use in our Architectural/ Custom work or sent back as scrap for recycling. We have a measure twice cut once philosophy, which aligns with our Quality Certified Systems (ISO 9001), that also contributes to minimising wastage.

We also have a process which allows clients an opportunity to recycle by implementing   a refurbishment program of furniture, giving it a new lease on life for less than the cost of replacement and send any discarded or replaced components off to the recycling plant.

The office is another place where we show responsible environmentally sustainable practices. We have Cartridge and paper recycle programs in place and we also have a “lights off” policy when an office is not occupied.

These environmental practices alos allow us to be a proud supplier on the Eco Buy Website.

As citizens of the world, we at Furphy’s Foundry, do what we can for the environment, when ever possible.
